Get prepared to go without
One in three Australians will face a disaster in their lifetime, yet many don’t think it will happen to them.
This September, we’re challenging people across the country to get prepared by going without everyday essentials that are usually at our fingertips – essentials that most people don’t have access to in a disaster.
Take the challenge, get prepared, and raise money to help people doing it tough.

How the challenge works
Go Without for one week
From 21 – 27 September go without everyday essentials you may lose access to during a disaster. Each day we’ll send you a text message letting you know which essential you’ve lost access to – by the end of the week you’ll be going without all five.
Get sponsors and raise funds
Ask your family, friends and colleagues to sponsor you with a donation to your online fundraising page (and encourage them to take the challenge themselves!). Share your experience completing the challenge with them during the week.
Help those doing it tough
Red Cross goes wherever and whenever we’re needed, helping communities across Australia and the Asia-Pacific. The funds you raise taking on the Go Without Challenge help support this vital work – so aim high! The more you raise, the more people you help.
Here’s what you’ll be going without – but you won’t know which day you’ll have to give up each essential (so savour those hot showers while you can!)
Only spend $200 for the week
